To receive a full refund, course materials must meet the term-based return deadline and be in their original condition. For any questions regarding course material returns, simply stop into the store, call us at 814-824-2395 or email us at books@mercyhurst.edu.
If you would like to exchange or return a course material item in-store, please bring it in along with a copy of your receipt.
Items purchased online can also be returned in person or by mail. Please repackage the item(s), including a copy of your receipt, and address your shipment to the address below:

Non-Refundable Purchases
- Digital Course Packets
- Accessed eText books.
- NEW Opened loose-leaf materials
- Opened biology kits.
- Any course materials purchased after the refund deadline has passed.
Fall and Spring Semester Returns
- Course Materials, including rental textbooks, may be returned for a full
refund during the first week of the semester. - eText books are returnable two weeks from the purchase. eText books are not returnable once accessed.
Textbook Rentals

- The Mercyhurst University Bookstore has a good selection of used and new rental textbooks.
- Rent and Purchase in One Transaction!
- Rental textbooks must be returned to the Mercyhurst University Bookstore on or before the rental return due date. Failure to comply will result in additional fees.
- New & Used Prices are subject to new/used availability.
Mercyhurst University Bookstore TEXTBOOK RENTAL AGREEMENT
A valid student ID number, email address, credit card and phone numbers are required.
1. I am at least 18 years of age. I accept and abide by the following terms and conditions and understand that the book(s) rented is/are the property of Mercyhurst University Bookstore. I accept the responsibility to appropriately use the book(s) and return it/them to Mercyhurst University Bookstore in re-sellable condition.
2. I understand and accept the responsibility that at the end of each semester it is my responsibility to return the book(s) rented or pay the replacement price of the book(s). The book(s) must not be water damaged, missing content, stained or in unusable condition.
3. I understand and agree that the Mercyhurst University Bookstore will have the discretion to evaluate/determine the condition of the book(s) upon return. As a courtesy the Mercyhurst University Bookstore will send out several emails to you with reminders prior to the due date that your books are due. The emails used will be the one you provide us at the time of the rental. Check your emails.
4. If I am late returning my rental books, I understand I will be charged a late fee of ($10) ten dollars. If I fail to return the rental textbook(s) by May 13, 2024, or return them in an unsaleable condition, I authorize Mercyhurst University Bookstore to charge a replacement price of the textbook. Replacement price is based on the book price at the time of rental.
5. I understand that if the rented book(s) are not returned late fee penalties may be assigned. Mercyhurst University has the right to put my student records on hold until the book(s) is returned or the price to replace the book(s) is paid. If you would like to purchase your rental, the purchase price is the list price minus any rental fees you have already paid.
6. I understand that my rental fee is refundable if the book is returned within the textbook return period as described under the Return Policy. Return period coincides with drop/add day of each term. January 23, 2024.
7. I understand that rental textbooks are the intellectual property of the author(s) and are copyrighted. Intending to be legally bound, the following signature of the student or parent is affixed.
